Description
Vehicle fixing plate for use with a secondary coupling safety cable fitted on unbraked trailers up to 750kg GVW or a breakaway cable fitted on braked trailers and caravans. The bracket bolts behind any towball which is mounted using two coupling bolts most commonly used on Witter, Towsure, TowTrust, A1 and PCT towbars.
The secondary cable is designed to continue to tow the trailer in the unlikely event of the trailer becoming detached from the towing vehicle and the breakway cable is designed to apply the trailer or caravan brakes and bring it safely to stop. This plate enables the breakaway or secondary cable to be hooked onto the hole of the plate rather that hooking it around the towball.
It is a legal requirement to have a secondary cable or chain fitted to an unbraked trailer manufactured after 1 January 1997 and a breakaway cable must be fitted to all braked trailers.
